Hot and Bothered

Woke this morning and it was a beautiful again. The plan was to go out on the bike. After breakfast we headed out on the same route, this time in shorts. God its great. We sailed along without a care in the world until we came to Connaux and then it was up hill to Le Pin and beyond.  I struggled up the first hill to Le Pin and took advantage of the break before the 2nd phase. By the time I got to the top of the 2nd climb I was blinded by sweat but I made it.

We cut the route short the last day and this time we headed to St Victor des Oules. I didn’t think any more of it as Jack ahd said that then worst of the climbing was over for the day. He lied!!!!

St Victor des Oules could be see if you lifted you eyes to the sky. Are there no towns built at ground level in this country???

Anyway, up we went, and up, and up. I looked back and through the sweat all I could see was smoke. Was there a fire? No, it was the smoke coming out my ass. I was burning oil, big time!!!

At the top we stopped. My lungs were on fire and I was looking for a cardiac ambulance but none could be found. After a few minutes recovery, we set off again only to realise we weren’t at the top but there was a bit more. My heart sank.

At the top, Jack suggested that we go back down as there is no sign for the next town at the top but just a sign to show that the village had ended. My retort to Jack was, ” You can go and F@*K yourself if I am going down that hill again to go up another one!!”

He successfully realised that I was not a happy bunny!!

 So we continued on. We didn’t know where we were going but it was in the rough direction of home. At last we saw a sign post and we were saved. We were on the right road.

Now I know I can be a bit of a drama queen but today we went over three Cols in my view. Jack says they were bumps in the road…BITCH!!!

He has just redeemed himself by bringing me up a cup of tea and some bread and cheese. Isn’t life wonderful. I’m off to the patio to have them outside in the sun.  Did I mention it was sunny?
